This image is part of a trio, Oyster Shell 1, 2 & 3. Can be used individually or use the 3 together hung vertically or horizontally. I enjoy eating oysters and attending oyster roasts as do many people especially along coastal areas. But I didn't really understand much of their significance until researching the topic for a commission art piece. Here are just a couple tidbits about these briny bivalves: They've been around since the beginning of human history and have been sustenance for both the poor and the wealthy. Their high micronutrient and protein content makes them an excellent food choice. Oyster's contribution to healthy ecosystems and estuaries is amazing. An adult oyster can filter up to 50 gallons a day.
